Almost 2,000 people braved frigid weather early Saturday but didn't get cold feet when they all went naked in the center of gothic Bruges in an art "happening" organized by photographer Spencer Tunick. With temperatures closing in on freezing, winds lashing the turrets of the city and rain putting a shine on the ancient cobblestones, 1,950 people shed their clothes at dawn, with many posing in a street close to the medieval Belfry or touring the canals on boats. "It was a good feeling, everybody went naked and there was this sense of togetherness. There was no shame," said Charlotte Logghe, 28. "It was extremely cold though. We were wet through and through," she added. In the warmer environment of the city's theater, hundreds of naked spectators had the cameras turned on them. U.S. photographer Tunick has been doing such nude assemblages around the world since 1992. The artist chose Bruges to open the Corpus 05 festival, which runs through September.

I have recently completed research on issues facing the naturist community for a university project. In this article I will share my finding with you. You may associate these findings with your own naturist experiences and feelings. Naturism, all you have to do is take your clothes off and your worries get thrown aside along with your clothes. Is this accurate? Maybe not! Although we still enjoy the time that we spend being nude, there are still many problems and issues involved with being a naturist. There is a lot more to naturism than taking your clothes off in a public setting. This lifestyle that we participate in is relaxing and stress free but can be problematic at the same time. Many naturists are not able to integrate this lifestyle into everyday life, and may lead two lives. Few naturists are able to integrate this lifestyle into their everyday life, where all of their friends and family participates or has knowledge of their lifestyle. Many non-naturists believe that taking your clothing off is sinful and immoral, and teach this to their children. It's from this type of thinking that misconceptions are formed that equate nudism with sex and a corrupt mind. As naturists these types of beliefs are offensive and harmful. A good example is a teacher who is a naturist is terrified that her job will be in jeopardy if anyone finds out that she is a naturist because the school board would regard naturism activity of having loose moral character. Equating loose moral character with nudity is preposterous to naturists but makes sense to many other people because they equate nudity with sex.

What To Bring To A Nudist Facility

Gee, what a concept! I didn't think about it until I was getting ready to go. What does one take to a Nudist Facility? I obviously wasn't going to need changes of pants, shirts, underwear, socks, or shoes. So what did I need? Well, here's some things I discovered after I got there: Clothing - Keep it simple and use common sense. Nudists may be nude, but they generally aren't nude to fanatical lengths. You don't need clothing per se, but you do need to keep the weather and activities in mind. Check the weather report before you go. If it's going to be chilly, bring a jacket or a zipper-front parka, maybe even sweat shorts or pants. During the day, if it's supposed to be sunny, bring maybe a hat and lots of suntan lotion. If it's supposed to rain and you don't like getting wet, bring an umbrella or a raincoat. If you are going outside, especially traipsing around the woods, you will need shoes or maybe sandals. Towels - bring a few for each day. You'll need them to sit/lay on and to dry off. (pool, hot tub, rain, shower, etc.) Make sure you bring enough and they're adequate to do the job. Quality (plush) beach towels seem to do the best for most things.

Again, every body is different. However, some variation on the following plan should work wonders. Set the scene with candles, fresh flowers, incense, soft music... whatever she prefers. Your thoughtfulness will surprise and delight her. Make sure she's comfortable. Encourage her to recline on the bed. Place a few pillows behind her head. Make sure she isn't cold. Rape Prevention for Girls and Women

When I address high school girls and college women I begin by telling them about male socialization. Most haven't heard the truth about male socialization, especially from a male. Very often as I talk, some cry, most get very quiet. Previously they have been taught to ignore their instincts; not to identify abuse that they have suffered as abuse; that the greatest danger is from a stranger; and that it is nearly inevitable that they will be assaulted. Their only hope, they have been taught is: 1) to dress differently; 2) to drink less; 3) accept the protection that a male relative or partner offers (no matter that statistically he is most likely to assault them); 4) blame the victim and otherwise distance themselves from other survivors who they believe to be weak; 5) continue to believe that it is hopeless that there is nothing that a "mere" girl or woman can do to avoid sexual assault. It would be wrong to leave them feeling hopeless, so I read aloud from the following stories I have collected. I suggest to them that many females have "success" stories, stories where they (or other females) have avoided sexual assault. Sharing these stories and supporting survivors is definitely part of rape prevention for females. But, I don't want to victim-blame inadvertently. I include the following "disclaimer." There is no 100%, fool-proof method of rape avoidance. The research of Dr. Pauline Bart suggests though, that when women employ one rape avoidance strategy, they successfully disrupt 75% of rape attempts; and when two strategies are employed, women successfully disrupt 85% of attempted rapes! (NOTE: There are survivors present. There are girls or women who have employed any number of "proven" avoidance techniques, and were still assaulted.

I was hooked, and that was over 30 years ago. The phrase, "nude when possible, clothed when practical," definitely describes me. I do wear at least shoes when vacuuming the house though as I have a habit of running over my toes with the vacuum cleaner.

Menstruation is a very complicated process involving many different hormones, the woman's sex organs and the brain. A woman's internal sex organs consist of two ovaries, the Fallopian tubes, the uterus (womb) and the vagina. The ovaries contain the eggs with which the woman is born and, during each period, a single egg will usually ripen and mature due to the action of hormones circulating in the bloodstream. When the egg is mature it bursts from the ovary and drifts through the Fallopian tube down into the uterus. The lining of the uterus - the endometrium - has been thickened by the action of hormones and made ready to receive the fertilised egg. If the egg is fertilized and the woman becomes pregnant, it will fasten itself onto the endometrium. If the egg is not fertilized, however, resultant hormonal changes cause the endometrium to slip away and menstruation begins. Menstrual discharge is composed of the endometrium itself, together with a little fresh blood caused by the breaking of very fine blood vessels within the endometrium as it detaches itself from the inside of the uterus.

Named for the protective shield used during dental surgery, a dental dam is a small sheet of latex that acts as a barrier between your mouth and your partner's vagina or anus. Once only made in shades of translucent white or hospital blue, dental dams are now available in different colors, shapes and sizes.
